Frequently Asked Questions.
What is Celestopod Therapy?
Celestopod Therapy is an online counselling practice offering LGBTIQ-affirming, trauma-informed therapy for adults across Australia.
I integrate therapy informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness coaching, and reflective practice to help people build clarity, calm, and connection with Self.
All sessions are offered via secure telehealth.
Who do you work with?
I work primarily with adults who may or may not identify as LGBTIQ+ or who want an affirming space to explore identity, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.
Many of my clients come with experiences of anxiety, trauma, grief, self-criticism, or disconnection — and are ready to understand themselves with more compassion.
What happens in a free 15-minute consultation?
This brief consultation is a chance to meet, ask questions, and see if we’re a good fit.
It’s a friendly chat — not a therapy session — designed to help you feel comfortable before committing.
We can talk about what’s bringing you to counselling, what you hope to achieve, and how I might support you.
How do online sessions work?
Sessions are held via a secure telehealth platform that’s fully encrypted for confidentiality.
You’ll receive a simple link by email — no downloads needed.
You can join from your computer, tablet, or phone. I recommend finding a quiet, private space where you can feel relaxed.
How long are sessions and how often do we meet?
Standard sessions are 45 minutes. Extended session are 90 minutes long.
Most people start with weekly or fortnightly sessions, then move to less frequent check-ins as they progress.
Length and frequency of sessions depends on your goals, capacity, and what feels most supportive for you.
How much does it cost?
Session fees are clearly listed when you book. At present, Celestopod Therapy is a private service and does not offer Medicare rebates.
However, the fee structure is intentionally transparent and affordable compared with similar telehealth practices.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy?
IFS is a gentle, evidence-based approach that helps you understand the different “parts” of yourself — the inner parts of your consciousness, emotions, and reactions that shape your life.
Instead of trying to get rid of these parts, we learn to listen to them with curiosity and compassion, allowing deep healing and balance.
What does “trauma-informed” mean?
Being trauma-informed means I work with safety, trust, and empowerment at the centre of our sessions.
We move at your pace, with no pressure to share details you’re not ready for.
My goal is to create an environment where your nervous system feels safe enough for healing to occur.
Do you only see LGBTIQ+ clients?
While my practice has a strong LGBTIQ+ focus, everyone is welcome.
Many non-LGBTIQ clients seek support because they value inclusive, affirming spaces that honour open and honest individuality and authenticity.
What if I’ve never had counselling before?
That’s completely okay. Many of my clients are starting therapy for the first time.
My role is to guide you gently through the process, help you feel safe, and work collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.
Can I remain anonymous or use a nickname in sessions?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to use a preferred name and share only what you’re comfortable with.
Privacy and confidentiality are always respected.
How do I prepare for my first session?
You don’t need to prepare anything special — just find a quiet space, bring a cup of tea or water, and take a few deep breaths.
You might want to think about what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it, but it’s okay if you’re unsure. We’ll explore that together.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancellations or reschedules are accepted up to 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations or missed sessions may incur a fee, as that time is set aside just for you.
Do you work with couples or groups?
At present, Celestopod Therapy focuses on individual sessions for adults. Couples and group options may be offered in the future.
How do I book a session?
You can easily book online through the Book a Free 15-Minute Consultation button on this website.
You’ll be guided to select a time that suits you. If you prefer, you can email me directly at celestopod@fastmail.com with the subject line “Free Consultation Request – Celestopod Therapy.”
